Eric joined MCE in 2015 after a stint as a special inspector at a testing agency, where he gained practical experience testing soils and concrete. New construction and the modification of existing structures each have their own set of design challenges and Eric has experience with both. He has been involved in projects of many sizes; brand new podium-slab structures down to remodels of existing single-family homes. Eric has also worked on specialized projects such as fall protection on Washington state ferries, seismic evaluations of existing structures, and in-place augmentation of concrete floor slabs. 
 
This breadth of experience means Eric is comfortable designing in concrete, steel, and traditional wood-framing. Eric also provided construction administration services on Central City Concern's new campus in East Portland, eagerly and effectively coordinating and adjusting his designs as conditions changed through the life of the project. Eric takes pride in explaining the "whys" of his designs and in finding creative solutions that work within existing structures.

Associate Structural Engineer I (3+ years experience and license)

As an Associate Structural Engineer I you will:
  • Perform calculations, develop loading requirements, & create accurate & concise drawings
  • Communicate effectively & professionally with senior engineers & clients regarding status of new & ongoing projects
  • Pay attention to client expectations & scope adjustments, work closely with senior engineers
  • Perform research & conduct field investigations
 
Qualifications/Competencies:
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering or equivalent
  • PE license & 3+ years of experience is required
  • Preferred to have personal vehicle & the minimum required Oregon insurance for site visits
  • Ability to generate creative solutions within existing limitations
  • Balances team and individual responsibilities
