Award Overview
Story
Miller Consulting Engineers provided structural engineering services for this five-level, 330,000-square-foot parking garage accommodating 1,245 vehicles. The project utilized a cast-in-place post-tensioned concrete structural system supported by vibro-replacement stone columns to address challenging geotechnical and seismic site conditions near the Willamette River.
Through evaluation of multiple structural alternatives, MCE developed a durable, cost-effective solution that maximized parking efficiency, minimized long-term maintenance, and incorporated innovative design features including long-span post-tensioned framing, lightweight architectural screening, and renewable energy integration. The project was recognized with an Excellence in Concrete Design award.
