About Deterioration Repairs

Deterioration repairs address damage caused by aging materials, environmental exposure, moisture intrusion, or structural fatigue. Structural engineers evaluate the extent of deterioration, identify the underlying causes, and design repairs that restore structural capacity and extend the life of the building.  Deterioration found in concrete can include spalling, cracking or reinforcing deterioration.  Wood structures see deterioration due to moisture intrusion or bugs, excessive deflection or deterioration of fasteners and connectors due to environmental corrosion.  Steel structures are most likely to experience environmental corrosion that may cause members and connections to weaken.
