Project Story

MCE provided a structural analysis of a 12 foot diameter illuminated soccer ball made of 20 hexagons and 12 pentagons. The structural members of the ball were constructed of aluminum plates to reduce weight. The stresses of the ball were determined using three-dimensional modeling software. As part of this analysis MCE engineered the joints of the soccer ball that connected the numerous members. Our client's critical time constraints were met for shipping and installation of the product on site.
